1. I’m a Post-Bac student. Am I eligible for the NIGMS RISE Program?
Yes, as long as you fit the eligibility requirements.
 
2. I want to attend Medical School, am I eligible?
No, only students seeking a PhD in biomedical and behavioral research or MD/PhD are eligible.
 
3. I’m not a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident, can I receive financial support from the NIGMS RISE Program?
No, to receive salary support from the NIGMS RISE Program, students must be U.S. citizens, non-citizen nationals or permanent residents. Permanent residents must possess a currently valid Permanent Resident Card (USCIS Form I-551). Individuals on temporary visas, those seeking asylum, or refugees are not eligible for support from the NIGMS RISE Program.
 
4. I’m a part-time undergraduate student. Can I keep my part-time status and still be supported by the NIGMS RISE Program?
No, to receive financial support from the NIGMS RISE Program, students must be enrolled full-time.
 
5. I’m a Film major with a minor in Biology. Can I be supported by the NIGMS RISE Program?
No, NIGMS RISE program-supported participants must be enrolled in academic degree programs in biomedical or behavioral science fields as their major.
